There are two distinct aspects to this strategy. 1. One part of the strategy is to increase your support base though our New Donor Acquisition Campaign. In this campaign we "throw out the big net" in various ways to expose the public to the needs of your ministry as broadly and as efficiently as we can. We recommend launching this campaign prior to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with possibly a limited test prior to Easter. Using special appeals based upon the need to supply meals to hungry and homeless people is the proven way to achieve the greatest response in acquiring new donors. 2. The second part of the strategy is to develop these new donors and all existing donors into more regular, consistent donors by giving them on-going opportunities to contribute to your ministry. Follow-up mailings to donors are essential. Developing an ongoing relationship through regular, personalized, direct mail is the key method to expand subsequent giving and profit margins. Theme, graphics, style, personalization, increased giving frequency, challenges to higher giving amounts and other factors are all part of our cultivation strategy and will provide growth to your annual budget funding.
